Planning a container programme: what 300 t a day and 6,000 t of cold storage buys you

Capacity numbers only matter if they shorten your lead time. Here is how the plant at Xiangzhi is sized, and what to send us so the answer is a shipping window rather than a range.

Most enquiries we receive ask for a price. The ones that turn into repeat business ask for a date. Those are different questions, and the second one is the one that capacity answers.

The physical position

The plant sits inside the national central fishing port at Xiangzhi Town, Shishi, on the west coast of the Taiwan Strait. It runs to 9,000 m² of processing floor, 6,000 t of cold storage and a daily processing capacity of about 300 t. The company has operated since 2012 and exports around 27,000 t a year to 24 markets.

The cold store is the number that matters commercially. 6,000 t of holding capacity means a programme can be built ahead of a vessel instead of behind a landing: raw material is taken in and frozen when the fish is right, and released against your loading window rather than against the weather.

Why we mention our own trucks

Raw material coming in and packed product going out move on our own domestic fleet rather than a third-party carrier. One operator holds the cold chain end to end, and there is no handover between a trucker and a warehouse where a temperature record goes missing. If your audit asks for a continuous temperature record from landing to container, that structure is what makes it possible to produce one.

What to send so the answer is a date

Six things: species and size grade, processing form, freezing method, glaze percentage, packing weight and label, and quantity with destination port. With those, the reply is a price, an MOQ and the next loading window. Without them, any honest supplier can only give you a range, because the size grade you accept decides what can be committed from stock.

A note on fixed specifications

If your specification is fixed for a season, say so at the start. A fixed grade over several months is a different production commitment from a spot lot, and it is priced and scheduled differently. Buyers who tell us the annual shape of their demand get a steadier price than buyers who return each month to the spot market.
